USANKF Ohio Qualifier and Referee Seminar

     Cincinatti, Ohio May 2 and 3, 2009 – Five members of the GKK Sport Karatedo Team competed in the United States National Karatedo Federation's Ohio qualifying tournament, one of Ohio's most celebrated sport karate events. By placing in this event, the GKK members qualify for the USANKF National Championships and Team Trials in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on July 14 through 19. The USANKF is the U.S. Olympic Committee's National Governing Body for sport karate.

The results are as follows:

 

Mark Cramer – Men's 35+ Advanced;  Kata – Gold,  Kobudo (Long Weapons) – Gold,  Kobudo (Short Weapons) – Silver

Chris Perry – Men's 35+ Advanced;  Kata – Bronze, Kobudo (Long Weapons) – Bronze, Kumite – Silver

Travis Hale – Men's 18 to 34 Advanced;  Kata – Silver, Mandatory Kata – Silver, Kumite – Bronze

Alex Perry – Male 11 Year Old Advanced; Kata – Silver,  Kumite – Bronze

Alec Vaughn – Male 12 Year Old Advanced; Kata – Silver,  Kumite – Silver

 

     Additionally, GKK members Mark Cramer, Travis Hale, and Chris Perry attended the USANKF kata and kumite referee course and upgraded their kumite and kata certifications. This course was taught by Mr. Alex Maladi who holds the highest World Karatedo Federation credentials and is one of the most respected officials in the world.
