Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Kyokai Fiftieth Anniversary

by Bill Handren

The Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Kyokai has been in existence since 1959. It is one of the oldest and largest Goju-Ryu karate organizations in North America. We have more than thirty active schools in the United States, Canada, India, Mexico, Israel, Sri Lanka and Panama, with over a hundred and fifty active dan rank members.

The G.K.K. is a not-for-profit organization that teaches traditional karate primarily through public institutions.  This allows us to keep student's costs low and make the study of Goju Ryu available to as many as possible.  All of the GKK officers donate their time free of charge. Seminar fees only cover the teacher's expenses and none of the students who are unable to pay are ever turned away.

Quite an organization isn't it?

We will be celebrating our fiftieth anniversary next year and I need your help.  I'd like to do a series of articles recounting those years.  Anything you write will be appreciated.  Please share your experiences with our members
