Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; On July 16 and 17, four members of the GKK Sport Karatedo Team competed in the USA-National Karatedo Federation’s National Championships and Team Trials. The USANKF is the U.S. Olympic Committee’s National Governing Body for sport karate, and there were over two thousand participants entered at this prestigious event.

The USANKF is the U.S. Olympic Committee’s National Governing Body for sport karate, and there were over two thousand participants entered at this prestigious event. The foursome of Brad Geiner, Alex Perry, Christopher Perry, and Alec Vaughn represented the GKK with a sound performance in every event that they entered, and they won three medals in three different events – open kata, weapons kata, and kumite. The results are as follows: Brad Geiner – 35 to 39 yr. old male Advanced; Kumite – Bronze Alex Perry – 11 yr. old male Advanced; Open Kata - 16th Kumite - 16th Christopher Perry – 40 to 44 yr. old male Advanced; Open Kata – 5th Kumite – 8th Weapons Kata (35+ male Advanced Long Weapons) – Silver Alec Vaughn – 12 to 13 yr. old male Advanced; Open Kata – Bronze Kumite – 5th Congratulations to all on a fine showing at the USANKF National Championships and Team trials. An extra congratulations goes out to Mr. Chris Perry who was the GKK’s coach at the event. GKK Head Coach, Mr. Mark Cramer, was unable to attend this year’s event due to a recent surgery on his spine. Mr. Perry did a commendable job in his first outing as the GKK Coach. |
